PostSubject: A Deal's a Deal (Joek)   A Deal's a Deal (Joek) I_icon_minitimeMon Mar 19, 2012 10:46 pm

Karma's body was hidden beneath a copper linen robe. The hood was pulled over her head but not too low to ruin her line of sight. Her eyes were locked onto her target, unmoving. Her goal was not to kill or maim her victim, but rather to deliver a message. Joek ran a mafia. Not a charity bank. When you didn't pay up, you paid in another way. She followed the portly man down an alley, looking around to make sure they were alone. Karma moved in and touched his shoulder. He whipped around and stared at the figure, worried but not alarmed at the sight of a female's face structure. Karma held out a piece of parchment for him to take, "Time is up."

The man read it but crumpled it in his hand within a second, starting to laugh. He patted his stomach and shook his head, "Oh is it time already? Hmm...sorry sweetheart, but I don't see how this contract can pan out. I paid you filthy sewer rats to watch the streets while I built up a guard population. I've done so and I don't see any reason to have to pay more. I have what I need...not like you creeps did a well enough job anyway."

Karma smiled slowly, "So...you refuse to pay as per the contract."

"What did I just say?"

"That's all I need to hear."

Karma turned her back and started to leave. The man frowned, "Listen swine. Don't be thinking you can do anything to me. You are all criminals and my guards are already on the look out for you."

She turned and flashed a quick cheshire smile, "Good luck." With that she dissipated in a puff of smoke.

___

Karma reappeared in the underground, stumbling around a little bit and holding her head. That cool stuff wasn't easy! She looked around, waiting for her vision to focus, "The Baron LeMain refused to pay the remainder of his share. He also called us rats."

PostSubject: Re: A Deal's a Deal (Joek)   A Deal's a Deal (Joek) I_icon_minitimeMon Mar 19, 2012 11:56 pm

Joek's crew were all sitting on the tables lining the wall with the green haired menace himself sitting on a stone throne between them. A single gloved hand ran through his hair, an air of annoyance perforating his every movement. He stood up from his place, stretching his legs and snapped his fingers, "Snivel... Go get your friend and meet me at the Baron's place." He walked forward, slipping his fingers through Karma's hair, "You did good kid," he whispered in her ear as he walked past.

Only a few short minutes later, they were standing on the street adjacent to the Baron's house. the place was swarming with the guards that Joek had helped to fund. Wonderful. The plan was simple, they wait behind the wall and Karma makes the guards run passed, allowing the group to grab them and eliminate them. There were 3 other operations happening on the other sections of the house, all following Karma's lead.

She smiled her thanks and bowed her head before following closely. At the speed that the small army was formed, one could assume they had already planned their move. And that assumption would be correct. The wealthy that dealt with Joek rarely kept their end of the bargain, thinking they were all high and mighty. High, perhaps. Mighty, they were not.

Karma gathered her current team into position and began clumsily climbing over the wall, making a lot of noise to send a false threat. Another few along the areas with high concentrations of guards did the same. The guards raised arms and shouted at the trespassers, running forward with swords raised. The henchmen and their leader scattered and began to run, leading the horde of men toward the opening of the wall, where Joek and the others waited patiently to slit throats.

And slit throats they did, grabbing the guards before they even managed to let out a scream. One rather unlucky guard was caught by Joek himself, one broken arm and neck later, the guard lay at his feet, broken and bleeding. The madman's smile seemed to gleam in the torch light.

The group walked forward, opening the door without any sort of fight. the group of 5 henchmen stepped in whilst the rest just stayed out in the night, awaiting a need for back up. Joek walked through the well lit house with a smile to every servant who stared at him with wide eyes.

"Could you kindly point us in the direction of the Baron? We have some matters of monetary value to discuss..." The maid visibly twitched at the gaze and pointed up the stairs before running out of the house as fast as she could. Joek was used to this reaction and shrugged his shoulders, that smile still firmly planted as he stepped up the stairs with the others. One henchman, holding a metal bucket with a lid on it almost fell, Joek turned his head sharply at him. "Careful now, we don't want you to lose your friend." He cocked an eyebrow and the henchman, Snivel, nodded his head.

The group stepped up to the door, opening it loudly to a very startled man and equally startled younger woman. "Oh hoooo, this is where the money is being wisely invested then, whores?" His smile went to the girl, who seemed to wilt at the term.

The men stepped forward and grabbed the naked man rather quickly. "So. Not going to pay eh?"

The man was sweating and looking between the group. "I will. I will pay. I swear it!"

Joek nodded his head slowly. "Yes... You will. Now. I hear you called us rats..."

The man whitened. "A joke. Of course, I was joking."

The concussive hit from Joek was enough to make a grown man cringe. The Baron's nose was completely unrecognizable after Joek's knee was done with it. "I... am the only Joek in this room my friend... You've no right to claim it."

The man was now screaming and sobbing as Joek lifted a hand, ordering the man placed on the table, still nude.

"Show him Snivel, your friend."

The weasely henchman opened the bucket, holding out a very sizable looking rat. It squeaked and screamed at it's abuse, thrashing it's sharp little claws and gnashing it's teeth.

A snap of the fingers and the baron was gagged by a strip of cloth, Joek smiling as he was tied down on the table. "I think our friend wants to play with your friend Snivel, let's play."

The man walked forward and placed the rat on the Baron's stomach, setting the bucket upside down on top of it. The man started whimpering at the touch of the rodent.

"Your torch..." Joek held out his hand, taking the torch and walking over toward the man's ear. "You see, we are rats. We are survivors. We will tear through anything that tries to kill us or stop us. Even if it means killing people who've placed themselves in our way. You see, Snivel's friend here is rather nasty to start with, but given a bit of heat and no where to go... but down..." He smiled and held the torch. "Do us the honors Karma."

Karma flinched at the beatings of the Baron. Not because she felt sorry for him of course, but because the bones crunching were just gross. So was the naked fat guy. She started to smile when the rat was being introduced into the equation. The Baron should have chosen his words more carefully. Though if he had compared them to butterflies instead, they would have taken more offence anyway.

She fanned her hand at Joek, "Oh you...it would be my pleasure. Though...I don't want to brag or anything...I sorta went out of my way to add to this little...demonstration." Karma clapped her hands at the Baron and hopped up and down, "I have a tiger you know. He's very sweet but he's still a predator. He just looooooves all the pettin's and rubbin's. You know what rats can smell? Predators...it's a shame you couldn't." One hand took the torch and the other slapped the fat man's stomach. The adipose beneath the skin rippled and shook, tiger fur flying from her palms. The smell was too subtle for the human nose, but for a rat...

The animal started to panic and squeak, the torch and scent of a predator making it jump around and claw at the sides of the bucket. Within a few seconds, it seemed to realize it had, in fact, no where else to go. The Baron wasted no time erupting into screams. Karma held the bucket still and banged the top with the torch, continuing to heat it. The Baron started to beg for the torture to cease as blood started dribbling down his belly from under the bucket.

The man's screams through the gag were getting wetter and wetter, a gurgling sound. Joek was laughing and so were some of the others in the room before he nodded to Snivel, who was looking at the bucket in almost horror. "Get your friend Snivel." The man nodded and ran forward, knocking off the bucket and grabbing the rat, whispering to it and walking away. The true damage to the flesh became apparent now.

The scratches were very deep, some places showed the white of bone. The man was still sobbing on the table as Joek took a breath and walked around the room, picking up a bag that sat on the dresser. He opened it up and felt the gold coins within. "Now now now mr. Baron... you seem to have been holding out on me... This is what you borrowed plus quite a bit more... I'm impressed with your charity." The bag was slipped into his vest pocket and he walked over to the torch and held out his hand. "Your torch please." The henchman held it out and Joek moved his hand, allowing it to fall onto the richly carpeted floor. "oopsie... Fire indoors is dangerous, isn't it? We should vacate quickly." He turned and walked toward the door, leaving the bleeding man with the inferno.

Karma moved aside when Snivel came to retrieve the rat. The sight of the slightly disemboweled man on the table made her lip twitch. The smell of his insides made her have to turn away. She meandered around as Joek did his thing and pocketed a few of her own little treasures. A new mirror, a few brooches from his vanity, and some random expensive looking stuff. There was in fact a lot of "expensive looking stuff".

Upon the light of the fire, Karma pointed at a few of the henchmen, "You, you, and you. Go downstairs and grab as much food as you can. You and you, find the maid quarters and take linens and silks. You, I want that rug that was in the parlor on the right. It had a peacock on it. Be quick and get out as soon as possible. Move!" She looked at Joek with a grin and started to make her own way to the door, "Hope you don't mind me ordering them around too much...figured we could have a little feast and some new sheets."

Meanwhile the Baron struggled and cursed beneath the gag.

Thanks to the stone floors the man had underneath the rug, the house did not burn up, but the table sure did. While the others were all ransacking the place, the man was struggling as hard as he could to get away from the flames licking up the side of the table. Joek was strolling through the house, picking up this and that, smiling at any maid who happened upon him. It wasn't long before he heard the thud of the table giving under his weight and him smashing upon the ground. With a slight bit of derision, Joek walked quickly toward where the kitchen was and pulled a small bag from his jacket. Without even a hesitation, he threw it into the flames, ducking behind the wall as he did.

The bag was full of explosive powder.

The explosion rocked the house, the kitchen now in full flames. Joek laughed and hopped in his place, elated at the burning and explosive qualities.

Karma had eventually made her way to the exit of the house, doing a quick inspection on the fruits of the henchmens' "labors". Her mouth watered at the sight of yeast rolls...she wanted one so bad. Maybe two...or ten. With lots of butter. The almost pornographic images of food in her mind were interrupted by the sound of explosions in the kitchen area.

She left her post to follow the sounds and the quickly intensifying scent of smoke. There she saw Joek giggling and wiggling about like a child that found a newt in the mud. Karma came up beside him and sighed loudly, "You had me at kaboom. Come on, let's finish demolishing this piece of crap and go home. I'm hungry!"

Joek was giggling and excited while staring at the destruction still smiling from ear to ear. It was pure panic in the house now, anyone still around was running for the hills. When Karma came to get him, Joek nodded and followed her out of the house, turning around to see his handiwork. They only made it a few steps out when a deep voice rang out.

"HALT!"

Joek stopped his spinning and turned to see who had spoken. His smile only widened at the man sititng on the horse. "Oh hello there officer... Is there a problem?"

The ironclad man hopped down, 5 others standing behind him. "Joek and Karma, by order of the King, you are hereby arrested and set for execution." Joek looked at Karma for a moment before turning back. "Execution you say. Well then, I turn myself in. Execution sounds fun." His voice reeked of sarcasm and he pulled Karma's hand before turning and running full speed down the street cutting into an alley way, a true thief at heart.

Karma obeyed the gruff voice that shouted to them as they exited the burning building. How did they know?! What could have given away their super secret location?!

She pursed her lips hard like she was sucking on a lemon and looked over Joek as he spoke. She barely had time to laugh at his sarcasm before being zoinked away from the scene and allowing her legs to carry her at full speed down the street and into an alleyway. Obviously the horses were close on their heels. Surely the officers were rolling their eyes.

Karma snickered and danced around in place, bouncing to and fro as the shouts of the officers grew nearer. She tapped Joek and pointed at the rather large grain bin outside of what she assumed to be a closed bakery. Lifting the lid, Karma slid into the bin and completely submerged in seconds. Like a cartoon character, her head popped out of the sea of grain, the little pieces sliding and rolling and sticking in her hair. Her grin motioned for him to join before it was too late to hide.

PostSubject: Re: A Deal's a Deal (Joek)   A Deal's a Deal (Joek) I_icon_minitimeTue Apr 10, 2012 11:01 pm

Joek turned the corner and grinned at the girl as she hid. He put a single finger to his lips and stopped in his tracks, turning to face the men as they came galloping into the alley. Joek's face turned to the girl once more, mouthing slowly, "Stay.... there." With a wink he turned his attention to the men dismounting.

Joek's hands went behind his back as he smirked at the officer. "Good evening once more. I must say, I'm impressed at your ability to capture one such as me... Must have a pretty price on me, eh?" Joek's smile stayed ever present as the guards slowly moved forward, one even walking past him and standing in the way of escape.

Joek's smirk continued. "Sooo, I am going to make a nice little deal with you. I'll go with you, if the bounty is left for my men." His smile widened as the officer nodded. "Good. Just leave it beside the grain bin over there and I'll allow you officer to arrest me peacefully."

They did as they were told, one man almost looking into the bin, but deciding not to. He then stepped forward and placed a single hand upon Joek to shackle him.

Joek twitched at the touch and a knife was hilt deep into the man's chin, through his mouth, into his skull. The other guards raised their weapons as if to attack, but Joek let the guard fall and held up his hands again. "I said... the officer was to arrest me... I will not be taken in by someone as low as this one." He smiled and kicked the one on the ground with his foot gently.

The officer hopped down, stepping forward and cuffing Joek himself, knocking him out with the hilt of his sword and throwing him onto the horse, for them to gallop away with him.

The alley was now empty of anything but a sizable sack of coin and a grain bin.

Karma huffed and growled at his refusal but obeyed. He never did anything spontaneous without having a plan. And yet he never really has a plan in the first place. It's a vicious cycle of surprises, but it entertains her on a psychological level. She burrowed deeper into the grain and allowed the bin to close on top of her. She could hear, but things were muffled. Karma strained to hear, but picked out the sound of horses, armor, squishy blood sound, and the tasty noise of coin plopping on the wet cobblestone.

She waited in silence as she was instructed until she could hear nothing. The horses were gone...the soldiers were too. Karma poked her head out and let the rest of her body follow, stooping down to pick up the heavy bag. Damn...his bounty is probably triple mine. Worth it though, I'm sure.

Karma shook the grains off of her body and snatched the bag up, disappearing into the night. She wasted no time dropping off the gold, putting on her soft sole boots, and throwing back a tankard of well water. Someone asked about the bag, but she didn't answer. No teamwork this time. Joek would be held in the barracks over night before the public execution in the morning. Going solo would be the safest route of attack.

Slinking back to the surface like a snake, the girl took back ways to reach the barracks. The guards in this city were not stupid. They did their job and they did it well. Their leader was relatively cunning lately, so they were sure to be...well...on their guard. Karma stayed away from the torchlight and peered over the big structure. Twelve of them stood along the single entrance. She was good, but not that good. She needed a distraction. She turned her head and screamed into the open street to her left. The reverberation would make the location of the sound hard to pinpoint.

Karma smirked as a few of the guards took off to the left, a few to the right. One came toward her, but he was wearing far too much armor to take him down quietly. She glued herself to the wall and closed her eyes, the golden glow vanishing in the darkness. He ran past and she moved. Poised, the girl ripped some blades from her hip and slung them.

One, two, three. The third missed the trachea and hit him in the eye. He was down, but cried out. Before he hit the ground she was on the three that remained. Karma sunk a thick dagger into one neck before snatching a bolt from another victim and stabbing him in the eyes and face until he too was incapacitated. The shouts alerted the ones that left. Luckily she didn't even have to bother with the last one as it seemed he fled in fear.

The door was locked. Perfect. Thinking fast, Karma ran along the side of the barracks before hastily smoking through a barred and now unguarded window. Though the scene was loud, the door was still locked. They would not really consider too look inside...so long as any other encounters were silent. Her boots made no noise as she tiptoed through the corridor and up the stairs. Karma was bad...she had been in the barracks a few times before. The interrogation chamber was on the second floor. Joek had quite a bit of information before his execution, so naturally he would be there. Karma's luck held through for her and she came across no other guards on that stair. They were in there for sure, but perhaps on the higher levels.

There was no subtle way to go about this. Karma pushed open the door and immediately locked it behind her, torchlight flickering against the blood spatters on her "work" clothes.

PostSubject: Re: A Deal's a Deal (Joek)   A Deal's a Deal (Joek) I_icon_minitimeWed Apr 11, 2012 12:16 am

A few short minutes before....

"Tell me your name."
"Joek."
"Tell me your real name Mr. Joek."
"Ohhh MR Joek... I like that."
"I see you think you are funny... Patient experiences multiple personality disorder, sociopathic tendancies, bloated sense of grandeur. You are a very ill man Mr. Joek. Show me some progress and I'll be able to get you away from the execution. Tell us where your base of operations are, and we shall begin your healing."

Joek was strapped to a chair. His eyes were staring straight into that of a man wearing glasses and a white shirt and pants. He seemed foreign, very tan.

"Listen... If you don't let me go... My friends will get me out."

"Your friends? Yes, these thugs you call your family. I take it you were most likely orphaned as a child? No mother or father? No family, so you made your own?"

"Something like that I suppose. Made things easier on me. No abusive father telling me I had to be a psychologist to know what made me so crazy." The doctor furrowed a brow at that, seemingly put off at that counter psychoanalysis.

"Oh? Did I strike a nerve? Little doc didn't have the strength to be a farmer. Couldn't get a girl thanks to you incessive talking about things no one cares for. Science and the mind. Please... You're existence is nothing."

"Don't try and get to me Joek, you'll find I've seen your type before."

"Have you? Then why is it that I'm strapped up this way? Surely you know that you are going to die. If you knew any better I'd be behind a very very thick piece of glass with a sliding drawer, don't you know anything?"

With this, a shine went into the doctor's eye. A glare from a metalic object....a very small knife in his hand, a scalpel swiped when he looked to be unconscious.

"Now doctor... It's game time."

The strap on that hand clicked and snapped off.

A few minutes later.

The door opened to show a very red Joek, smiling and turning his head toward the other side of the room where a man's legs were seen from behind it. the blood was pooling around there, but the upper half of the doctor was hidden from view by the desk.

"Shall we go then?"

Karma was pleasantly surprised by the bloodbath that greeted her. Her eyes were on Joek first, then the legs, then the blood...then Joek. She put her hands on her hips, which made a squishing sound from the gloves and wet clothes. A sigh escaped her lips and her foot tapped impatiently, her head nodding to her comrade and his bloody image, "Well one of us is gonna have to change."

She stepped in a bit more and made a yick face at the body. Karma curtsied and smiled, bouncing back into standing position, "After you! There are few breathers outside. Was in a hurry, of course. Karma's curiosity tugged her toward the body. For a wound or wounds to make that much of a mess, she just HAD to see.

Joek looked down at himself and then back at her. "What? This style is very in this season." He grinned and hopped down and made his way toward the door. He noted her curiousity and gave a grin before grabbing her by the hair to get her to follow him out. Karma was like a child many a time.

As they stepped out onto the street he looked around. Where were the others? His eyes found Karma once more. "Solo?" He grinned and jogged. That bounty was going to last them quite some time he figured. He grinned brightly as they ran full speed down the street.

"So it turns out that I have someone for you to meet Karma." He grinned and stopped, stepping into the trapdoor to the tunnels. "He's a doctor in Revera. Our friend back there says that he's rather wealthy, and in search of exotic creatures. I think you should pay him a visit."

Karma yipped when her hair was snatched but giggled immediately before following him out. She shrugged when he asked about her lack of company, "I don't like sharing the spotlight twice in one day." She bolted after him and perked up when he spoke again. Someone for her to meet, huh? Must be interesting. She listened and followed in his steps, closing the trap door behind her.

Wait...a wealthy doctor? She had never heard of such a thing! Often times, apothecaries and surgeons were on the same class level as clerics or blacksmiths. Then again, even in those areas of work there existed the wealthy. Either through work with nobles and kings or inheritance.

"Exotic creature, huh? I'm exotic. And I'm a creature! Did he happen to mention what his intentions were with such things? As much as I would love to return to Revera for a visit, I don't really think I'd want to if I were to be disemboweled. Are you going with me?"

When inside the hideout again people barely noticed anything was wrong. Perhaps they were too used to the "new look of the season" to care about the blood. One of the henchmen stopped and stared, holding his mug in front of him, "You're both covered in blood." Karma narrowed her eyes, "Yeah, now don't go stealin' our ideas. Go fill my basin with hot water." He nodded and left. Karma looked back at the boss, "I'm just gonna wash off a bit and change into my silks. You can use my basin, too, if you want so we don't waste water."
